A responsive website for a Visual Communications Company

World Wide Pictures Website

The Brief

World Wide Pictures provides video and digital media production, satellite broadcasts, live events and media distribution both on a nation and international scale. They required a redesign of their site which would showcase their best Case Studies featuring videos. The site also needed to provide information about World Wide Pictures offerings to new and existing clients, with sections for About, Client Logos, The Team, News and Contact details for three offices.

The Process

World Wide Pictures created a list of sites they liked. These sites were easy to navigate, had a contemporary, look and were stylish. They were drawn to sites which contained much of the content on one page, using a scrolling navigation to get between sections. They provided me with draft content so I could create proposed wireframe layouts. Both the content and the layouts were then developed simultaneously.

Once the wireframes were agreed I created a homepage design visual. The homepage contained a lot of the websites content; with further pages needed for Case Studies and News Articles. The style of the site was clean and modern using a colour pallet of muted tones, one for each section. A case study page was then created which needed to accommodate a feature video, project description, with a client quote and/or awards if applicable to that project. I also provided World Wide Pictures with a visual of how a Case study page would look on an iPad so they could gain an understanding of how the content would reshuffle on a smaller screened device.

During the build there were regular points where World Wide Pictures reviewed its progress. Once the website went live I gave a training session to a few members of the team on how to update the website. It was very important that they could add Case Studies and News Articles themselves regularly. They were delighted with how easy this was to do themselves using the Perch Content Management System.

"Sarah gave us a clear understanding on the process of building a website which was good for those of us less technically-minded! The tutorial on Perch that she gave several members of staff was very helpful indeed and put them in a good place to start uploading and editing content on the website. We are really happy that we chose Sarah to design our website."

"It’s been a pleasure working with Sarah on the design of our new website. We wanted to re-haul our website completely and go for a modern look and feel that would be attractive to new and existing clients. We loved Sarah’s designs which were modern and clean with a fun and warm edge. Sarah was extremely organised, creating a basecamp project where we could upload and discuss content and we were updated regularly on the progress of the website. Amends were completed quickly and Sarah approached tasks professionally throughout."
