Naturally Sassy

An award winning responsive website for natural and healthy recipes

Naturally Sassy - Healthy food recipe response website

The Brief

Saskia who currently writes for a popular health blog, wanted to grow her following and establish herself with her own website, Naturally Sassy. A large proportion of visitors would be accessing the site from mobiles and tablets, therefore a responsive website which worked beautifully across devices was essential. The Naturally Sassy website needed to be continually added to via a CMS, especially with new recipes and ingredients.

The Process

As with all web projects, I started by researching competitors and inspirational sources. I wanted to do this in a visual way that allowed Saskia to get involved in as much as she wanted. I set up a private Pinterest board, where we could both Pin and discuss what would work for the Naturally Sassy website.

We then continued by looking at typography for the site and the logo, and colour options. Once agreed I went onto create sketch wireframes so we could start exploring layout and reviewing how the site would look across devices.

Once the wireframes were agreed I created design visuals for three of the pages using the User Interface graphic tool Sketch. After a few modifications we were both really pleased with how the site was looking, it was time to proceed to the build and integration it with the Perch CMS.

"In Finding Sarah as a Web Designer, I was able to find someone who completely understood the vision for my website. She took me step by step through the design process, and made the creation of Naturally Sassy very clear, through constant communication. I was able to see the build of the site, and felt completely assured by every decision Sarah made with the design and branding. Every concept I threw Sarah's way she not only delivered on but would come back with something that surpassed my expectations."

The Result

Together we created a website that fulfilled her requirements. The site included social media integration to build an audience she could continuous engage with. The design of the site took a clean and simplified approach, with a clear user experience, and a modern clean design. This allowed the deliciously looking food photographs to be the focal point.

In November 2014 the website won a Good Web Guide Award which is an online reviewing site that selects the best sites according to unique offering, usability and efficiency.

Since the launch of the website Saskia has had a lot of success, launching a healthy snack product range, being featured in the press and she has a Cookbook coming out.

"After weeks of building the website, and seeing all the separate components, finally being able to see the website live was incredibly exciting. Sarah had understood every aspect of my vision; She had taken the best ideas and enhanced them further to create an exceptionally functional and easy to navigate website. The overall reception my website received was astounding, with a largely growing readership being able to view a slick and accessible website, that allows you to browse every section with ease. "
